The most common source of confusion for buyers is choosing between Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Ultraviolet (UV) purification. The truth is, one is not inherently "better" than the other; they are designed to solve different water problems.
How RO (Reverse Osmosis) Works
Reverse Osmosis is a highly effective filtration method. It uses a high-pressure pump to force water through a semi-permeable membrane. The pores in this membrane are incredibly tiny—about 0.0001 microns.
Pros of RO:

Choose UV (or UV+UF) if: Your water comes from a reliable municipal supply, tastes fine, and has a TDS level below 200-300 ppm. You just need protection against waterborne diseases like typhoid or cholera without wasting water.
Choose RO if: Your water comes from a borewell or tanker, tastes hard or salty, and has a TDS level above 300 ppm. You need RO to bring the dissolved solid levels down to a safe, palatable range.
